what is this thing? what’s happening around here?

i started this because there's so much art and not enough hours in the day to consume it, yet i stumble across cool stuff all the time, and i'm sure you do too. this is a place to share THE POWER OF ART.

why do you pick what you pick?

★ first, because i think it looks cool. i like to be provoked, and i like it when other people are exposed to new things that confront their assumptions or comfort.

★ second, i think perspectives on what art “is” and “isn’t” is sanitized by academia, the nebulous “art world,” colonization (i mean really, it all goes under this umbrella), and social media regurgitation.

so obviously most everyone mainly featured is now successfully existing off their art, but i choose them to illustrate it’s possible to keep your unique voice and keep on keeping on. as well as the neighborhood artist feature, highlights the DIY aspect of manifesting our work as “regular” folks who probably also have other jobs or platforms. WHATEVER IT IS, YOU CAN DO IT TOO.
